PUBLIC ADVISORY:DILG WARNS THE PUBLIC OF FALSE AND MALICIOUS NEWS IN SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS REGARDING SOCIAL PENSION FOR INDIGENT SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAM
DILG warns the public of False and Malicious News in social media platforms alleging that the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens program, pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 9994 otherwise known as “The Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010”, will be available to both pensioners and non-pensioners, and its implementation will be transferred to the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) by March 2023.
As of today, the bill amending Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program into the Universal Pension Program which will then cover both pensioners and non-pensioners still has not been approved in the House of Representatives.
Also, the implementation of the program has not yet been transferred to the NCSC from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Furthermore, registration through the Senior Citizen Data Form is not required to become beneficiaries of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program.
